Local Mission Outreach

Our members and pastor have helped start the Richmond area chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and Hope House, a homeless shelter and addiction treatment facility for men. Both of these outreaches receive significant ongoing support. We've also helped start "Operation Backpack Blessings", providing take home bags of sandwiches and fruit to keep some of our needy area school children fed on weekends when the school breakfast and lunch is not available. Christ's Ambassadors Mission & Outreach Center was begun by our members. Along with other congregations we helped start the Interfaith Apartments. Our members volunteer at the Community Food Pantry, housed in a home our church gave to the Pantry. Volunteers serve meals at the Community Soup Kitchen. We support "Open Arms Ministry", an outreach to transient and needy individuals in our community. We've supported Young Life since it came to our community, and have had a Boy Scout group for many years. Our worship services are shown on local cable channel 20 three times a week. You can see that First Presbyterians care about the community in which we serve!
